Due to the ongoing postal strike, we are unable to mail out our annual request for donations on this, the 10th anniversary of our Gift from the Heart Campaign.
This annual tradition has been instrumental in raising funds for projects and equipment for residents that would not otherwise be possible. Past campaigns have raised money for our bus, chapel renovations, upgrades to the outdoor garden walkway, and door decals to assist residents with way finding.
Recreation is extremely important in long term care, especially for residents with dementia. Dementia can be an isolating experience, but meaningful recreation and activities provide our residents with opportunities for connection, stimulation, and a sense of purpose. Whether it’s through music, art, puzzles, or sensory items, these moments can spark joy and reignite memories, enriching quality of life.
This year, we are asking for your support to expand the recreation program for our residents with dementia. Your generous donation will help us provide items such as:
- Sensory tools that engage the senses and soothe anxiety,
- Music therapy devices that help residents recall cherished memories,
- Interactive games and puzzles that encourage cognitive engagement,
- Art supplies for creative expression.
Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. A donation of $25 could provide a memory-stimulating activity kit, while $100 could fund a group music session that brings smiles to many faces.
Your kindness will ensure that our residents experience the joys of the season—not just during the holidays, but all year long.
To donate, please visit https://www.canadahelps.org/en/ and search Saint Vincent’s Nursing Home Foundation. Donations can also be made through the executive assistant by calling 902-429-0550 ext. 112.
Together, we can engage residents and create moments of joy for our residents this Christmas.
With heartfelt gratitude,
